Have a look at our art for this week it shows our handprints filled in with our favourite things and shows that we're willing to work together and help each other out
Thus month in fifth class we are learning all about how to create and publish a piece of procedural writing. We have created and published many pieces and last week we were lucky enough to get the chance to use and follow are piece on making Rice Krispie buns. Unfortunately they didn't last too long! Have a look below.
This week saw the beginning of our trips up to Poppintree centre. We're lucky enough to be allowed into the hall once every three weeks were we take part in a lot of different activities. This weeks activity was unihoc, we got to practice the skills of passing, shooting and tackling before we where split into two teams which included Mr Hyland and Ms Doyle! We then played a game which came down to a last minute goal! We'd so much fun and can't wait to go back and try out loads more different sports.
This week in Fifth class we came together to work on an anti bullying. The two classes began work with a discussion on what bullying is and how it makes people feel, the children then watched a series of videos and studied them looking for incidents of bullying and how this made people feel. Take a look below to see us working hard
This week due to all our hard work in the month of September. We headed off on our trip to Corkagh park in Clondalkin. We got the chance to spend the day in the playground, exploring the fairy garden and playing football. The whole class can't wait for our next trip!!!
Over the past two weeks in the are two fifth classes have been working hard on projects about famous women in history. We've been looking at women for Michelle Obama to Hillary Clinton and Mother Teresa to Amelia Earhart! We've put a huge amount of time and effort into these projects so make sure to come and see the finished projects in the school or have a look on the websit later on in the week where we'll post pictures of the finished projects!
Halloween Safety Talk:
This Wednesday both fifth and sixth class attended the Halloween safety talk in Virgin Mary boys school. We heard from the fire officers, the guards, Dublin bus and the DSPCA. We were plenty of tips on how to keep ourselves safe over the Halloween break so don't be afraid to ask us for some safety!
Over the last four weeks Ms.Barron has been working really hard with us to prepare and work on a short piece which has helped us greatly improve our reading fluency and expresssion. Here's a couple of pictures of us in action and huge thanks must go to Ms.Barron for all her hard work! Thanks Ms.Barron!

We're very lucky in 5th class to get the chance to do yoga all thanks to Ms. Cahill. We had a great time following a number of sequences and even learning how to stand on our hand and heads! A big big thanks to Ms. Cahill for all her work.
The boys and girls on the school Gaelic football team were very lucky today to get a visit from a very special person. Philly McMahon visited and brought the Sam maguire along with him! Fingers crossed that one Sunday in September we'll get to see some of these boys and girls up on top of the steps of the hogan stand lifting some silverware!

We look forward to many more great trips up to the centre.
DFL Cinema Trip
For all the hard work and great behaviour which the children have displayed since coming back after Christmas the children were treated to a trip to the cinema to see Moana. With popcorn and treats in hand we all jumped on the bus for the short trip to Charlestown. We all had a great time and it was reported that Mr. Hyland might even have shed a tear during the film!
Visit from the Dental Nurse:
We were lucky in the mint of February to get a visit from our local dental nurse who gave us loads of advice on how to take of our teeth. The main thing we took away from this visit was that the less sugar we eat the better, don't forgot there's sugar in nearly everything we eat!!!
5th class were very lucky to get invited by Dublin county council to plant and replant trees in poppintree park. The 5th class put in a lot of hard work digging the holes, driving down the stakes and planting the trees! Great fun was had and we helped to make our environment a better place.
